Advocacy in Action: Bystander Intervention

March 31, 2021 @ 4:30 pm - 5:45 pm

Students collaborating at table

Engage with representatives from UMBC’s Office of Equity and Inclusion as well as a private, non-profit agency, TurnAround, Inc. during our Advocacy in Action workshop series.

These three workshops will take place online (via Webex) on select dates in March and April and are open to both undergraduate and graduate UMBC-Shady Grove students. Sessions will focus on a variety of important topics related to Title IX, identifying healthy and unhealthy relationship behaviors, and bystander intervention techniques.

This week’s session is Bystander Intervention:
Please join us for an interactive session on Bystander Intervention where we will unpack the intersections of violence and reflect on how this impacts our likelihood to intervene in harmful situations. Participants will also learn bystander intervention techniques, also known as the 5 D’s, and reflect on when and how each method might be right for you. This workshop is inclusive of all gender identities, sexual orientations, and is a safe, judgement-free zone.

Please click on the RSVP button below to attend an upcoming workshop in our series that is of interest to you! Logistical details will be emailed to students who RSVP several days prior to your scheduled workshop.
