All students interested in UMBC-Shady Grove are strongly encouraged to meet with a pre-transfer advisor to determine your path to a bachelor’s degree.
Consider UMBC-Shady Grove if you…
- Want a big name degree from a small college campus
- Would prefer the commute to Rockville
- Have earned or will earn 45 to 70 college credits prior to graduation or transfer from a previous high school or college
- Are interested in one of the undergraduate programs listed below and have completed the necessary prerequisite coursework

Translational Life Science Technology (TLST)
If you plan to complete a four-year degree in TLST, you must complete your upper-level coursework at UMBC-Shady Grove. However, if you do not meet all of the requirements above, you should first complete your lower-level coursework at UMBC in Catonsville, MD, and you do not need to complete any additional application steps prior to enrollment.
