Translational Life Science Technology (TLST)

Applied Biotechnology at UMBC

Scholarship & Fee Waiver

This spring, be part of our Translational Life Science Technology (TLST) cohort and save money in the process. We are excited to announce two unique benefits:

  1. FEE WAIVER – Enter code “Inaugural Cohort” to waive the $75 application fee.
  2. SCHOLARSHIP – If accepted to UMBC and the TLST program, you can receive a scholarship of $3000 for two years.*

TLST is a brand new program at UMBC at The Universities at Shady Grove designed for students who want to be competitive in the bioscience world of today and tomorrow. This degree combines the theory of a traditional life science degree with real-world applications used by scientists in academic and industry research.

Master critical skills such as analytical thinking, data analysis, and data evaluation as you develop a comprehensive understanding of cell biology, biochemistry, lab instrumentation, statistics, epidemiology, and biochemical engineering.

*Scholarship will be given to new transfer students who enter UMBC between now and spring 2021 that declare TLST as their major. Thus, UMBC freshman and main campus students changing their major to TLST are not eligible for the scholarship. The scholarship provides funding up to $3,000 per year, for up to two years of study. For students enrolled at UMBC full time, they will receive $3,000 per year ($1500 for the semester). For those enrolled part-time, the amount provided will be prorated accordingly. A new transfer student who is admitted to UMBC and declares TLST as their major but needs prerequisites that they choose to take at main campus, can receive the scholarship their first semester at UMBC even if they don’t take any TLST courses.
